Laboratory Intelligence Series Module 1: Introduction to Quality Assurance

Four primary questions are answered in this module: 1) Why is Quality important?, 2) How do we measure Quality?, 3) How do we improve Quality, and 4) Are we getting our money’s worth? Included is an overview of various ISO standards applicable to the laboratory industry including ISO 9000, ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ISO 15189.

An introduction to concepts including Corrective Actions, Preventive Actions, Proficiency Testing, and Audits will be contrasted with checklist driven accreditations such as the College of American Pathologists and American Board of Forensic Toxicology standards.
